The House Half Full

It has been exactly one month today since we dropped our second child off at college. We miss him but are grateful that he is happy. The rhythm of the house has changed. We still have two teenage sons at home but the house does seem remarkably quieter.
This summer our house was filled with three teenage sons and our twenty-two year old daughter. Now she is a first year grad student and is busy adjusting to life at a new school also. I do miss the sounds of having them at home but I am coming to terms with the idea that there comes a time as parents when we must change our roles.
Now that two have left for college I am reminded daily that even though there are days when raising children can be stressful, the years really do go by quickly.

Blessings to you on this last day of Summer 2009!

Oldest off to Grad School

Hello and Welcome!
I have created this blog with hope of encouraging parents who have children leaving for college and are as stressed as I was when my first child left the nest.
My hope is it will be a place where I can express how I am adjusting to my children growing up and finding their place in the world.
My oldest left for grad school this morning.
Later this week my second child leaves for college and I will have two children at home. My responsibilities are in transition now. My younger two are teenagers and seem to be in less need of my help than they use to be.
I am beginning to see that I too must find my new place in the world.

There is still a microwave to be bought and a few other college dorm room items, so I guess this is where I need to end this blog for today and get back to my responsibilities as my son's
personal shopping assistant.
